Hi there,

I have an option to buy two speakers Philips 22AH489/01 with middles PHILIPS AD 02111/SQ4, highs PHILIPS AD 0144/T8 and bass PHILIPS AD 80651/W4. I would like to know what is it worth. (Sorry for my english).

Thanks

That is exactly what I want to buy - but I don´t know anything about real quality🙂 I want to buy it from this guy.

Why? Is it purely price or style or something else?

Not sure anyone on here would be familiar with this vintage. By the looks of it the seller has a Pioneer amp.

I start with laser game business and I am looking for good and quality pieces of electronic for a reasonable price. This one looks like something what possibly has higher value than market price. Anyway I am still open to any advice.

It comes from Philips' 'Black Tulip' range of rack system components made in the late 1970s like this one ...

If the speakers are in excellent, working condition I think it would be worth a try (although you need to try them before buying as replacement units may be scarce or impossible to replace).

Philips' 'Black Tulip' range is highly sought after and can reach perverse prices or if you're lucky, dirt cheap. As with anything collectable and vintage, it's worth as much as you're willing to pay for it. Condition is very important.

True. Some vintage stuff is going for silly money. As Chebby pointed out replacement parts are likely to be difficult to source. I had the same problem with my vintage Wharfedales.

O.k. I will try the sound. If it will work should I buy it for 180 USD or it is a high price?

If they are in immaculate condition I'd say it's not a very high price. If the capacitors are not completely dryed out the speakers should sound very good because of those drivers. They were used as OEM drivers by few other European and American companies, including Bang & Olufsen. To my ears, smooth, rich and relaxed sound. Again, it depends on condition.
