... if you want to watch a 2 hour film over 5 hours in 30 - 45 second chunks then a 20 - 30 second pause while more downloads.

Just excellent - I tolerated about 20 mins of 'Knight and Day' and had at least 30 'mini breaks' to make a cuppa, have a wee, chat to the wife - makes the film watching experience so much more rounded.

Now I might not have the world's fastest internet connection but I get about 6.5 MBPS which most speed test sites say is above average and the Qriocity software did a test before downloading to see if it could cope.

I'm glad I had their £15 free trial as I'd be demanding my money back as couldn't continue watching a film in that manner...

OK - rant over.

Oh - but on the plus side, sound and pic were very good!

Ah well, don't worry roger06, we'll all soon have 'superfast broadband' if the government gets its way

Now I'm all for the Internet delivering my movies - well, the postman actually delivers them but I choose them online. Now THAT'S a good idea...

laserman16:Mind you anyone lucky enough to have access to Virgin Media does have the option of having some quite blistering speeds.

Yeah tell me about it - donated my old iMac to my nephew yesterday and plugged it in at his house. Did a speed test - 36 MBPS!! - a bit slow apparently as it was peak time...

Exactly.

On a serious note though - why can't it just buffer enough content before playing? I'd rather wait 20 - 30 mins then start watching...

Maybe you can. Microsoft media player has in options a place where to put time how much data buffer before start to play. Or I used to start a video and put player on pause, and video continue downloading in background.

Thought I'd better update this post.

I gave Qriocity another go yesterday (after it's been down for weeks) and depsite my initial rant I found it very good. I just didn't bother with an HD movie though, just going for the SD version of 28 Weeks Later.

I have to say it loaded and ran without a single problem and the picture quality is in a different league to LoveFilm.

I'm only using it as they've given me a £15 credit. I don't think I'll use it when I have to pay as I'd rather put the money towards Blu Rays...
