Looking at buying the Q-Acoustics 1010i theater package, and replacing the fronts with their 1050i floorstander.

Anyone comment on these bits of kit, thank dave

Hi dave,

I have the Q Acoustics 1010i package, but replaced the fronts with the 1030i floorstanders as my lounge is only 14' x 12'. (1050i were too big)

Since doing the upgrade, I have been very pleased with the result, especially with stereo playback....

Hi, i've got the Q-Acoustics package in 7.1 but with 1010i's all round. I am delighted with the package but had been thinking of changing the front 2 to a bigger set perhaps the 1050i's just for stereo playback as the 1010i's lack a bit of bass when listening in stereo but the soundstage and detail is amazing at this price point and with movies they excel. The new sub in the 1010i package is also much better than the original package and gives you plenty of room shaking when needed!

hey Dave just thought you would like this link as the 1010i for £379 is the cheapest and best price ive found and using buying it off this site when i get back in septemeber from holiday

http://www.audioaffair.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=2588

Worth reading this.

Well if the website says its in stock you could go Richer Sounds and get them to price match it, which they should beat that price by an extra £10! So there are means around things like thiese issues

Ironically Dave, I have the Q Acoustic 1010i speakers and ordered the 1050i floorstanders last week and they have just arrived today. I will be setting them up tonight and will let you know what they're like compared to the 1010i fronts.

Regards

Andy

I have 1030i front speakers, 1010i rears + 1000Ci used for Stereo and 5.1 for SACD and DVD. I've had these for about 3 months and am absolutely delighted with them. I use an Eltax sub when watching movies and even though it's not a match for the Q speakers, it all sounds good to me (I will get Q sub as and when I can afford to). I reckon you should go ahead with either the 1050i or 1030i + 1010i system. BTW my room is about 7m x 4m and with a Sony STR-DB895D it goes PLENTY loud enough!

Hi Pete,

I just went for audition of Q Acoustic 1010i package. Bookself 1020i is good for movie but not so good for the music. The vocal is clear but lack of bass & the treble's sound flat. Since my living room is small (10" x 9"), I decided to get 1030i that I had never listened to before (The HiFi shop has no 1030i for audition)! But, I believe Q Acoustic 1000i series wont make me dissapointed! As a comment for the sub, 1000Si is well-matched with the Q A package but I prefer downward firing sub instead of forward firing sub. Thus, I try for the Mordaunt Short MS309 as my sub with paying a bit more $$.... Between Q A sub and MS sub,I dont know which 1 is better.... just try and see.......

Yea, the whole package will be paired with Denon avr 1909.

I'm looking forward my arrival of Q Acoustic 5.1 + Denon 1909 especially the both 1030i floorstanding speaker that I've never listened before! Eventually, I've change my mind from bookshelf 1020i to floorstander 1030i.....

Thanks WHF and Pete!

C ya!

Hi cloud7,

Glad to hear you are sorted.....

The 1030i are a great choice, in my opinion, and I hope you enjoy yours, as much as I enjoy mine!

Cheers......

Well, having set up my 1050i floorstanders the first thing I will say is they are quite big! They are very attractive - but bigger than I was expecting. There is definately a noticable difference in terms of performance between these and the 1010's; the 1050's possess more power and most notibly alot more detail. I would say that if you have a fairly large room then definately go for the 1050's; on the other hand, if your room is small then stick with the 1010's. The floorstanders really need to be positioned quite far apart, preferably one in each corner (but not too close to the wall). I first set them up with one either side of the TV but the sound quality seemed boxed in a little and performance was worse than the 1010's as a result; I therefore spread them apart further (as far as my room would allow) and this is where I noticed the difference as this gave them more space to breathe and make the most of the space. If my room was a bit smaller then the 1050's would be overkill in my opinion. I would say if you could position your TV centrally and position the 1050's approximately 2 metres either side of it (but 30cm from the wall) then you should get away with it and they will be a worthwhile investment. If not, then you will still be delighted with the 1010's or consider the 1030's ?

Hi!

I agree that the both 1050i will be overkilled if the room space is too limited! That's why I wont go for them!

The distance between my FR and FL floorstander is about 3m, meant 1.5m either side of my LCD TV and 1.5m to the listener position..... I believe that the 1030i should be OK.....

Thanks for sharing!
