Hi there i just downloaded the latest PS3 update so can now play 3D games (when they become available) via a 3D TV but if this also the case for 3D Blu-rays or is it just updated for games?

Also would like help to set my audio settings on my PS3 as at the moment i am kind of guessing. I have a full 5.1 surround system and plugged into my Onkyo amp and also use Optical cables for the sound.

If someone could post the full PS3 audio settings so that i get the best possible sound from my system that would be great.

In which case hook up the PS3 using HDMI to the receiver and another on to the TV, set the PS3's output to LPCM (old 'fat' model) or bitsream (new slim one) and you're done.

No need for optical connections.

i have the fat PS3 so what does LPCM stand for? i take it that its not as good as bitstream which you can use via the slim model?

On a seperate issue would i be better of purchasing say a Sony 360 Blu-ray player to use as my blu-ray player over my PS3? would this give me a better audio/visual expierence than the PS3 for watching blu-rays?

LPCM explanation here I just hope all of that makes more sense to you than it did for me! LPCM sounds just as good as bitstream on the PS3. As far as I know they are both lossless forms of audio, the only difference would be that when the older "fat" PS3's uses the LPCM through your amp it wouldn't show the HD audio symbols on the amp display. You are still getting the sound, just missing the little symbols so hardly worth worrying about really.

With regard to buying the Sony 360 Blu Ray player to use instead of a PS3 personally I wouldn't bother. I think the differences would be marginal but others on here may disagree.

So will the PS3 be able to play 3D blu-ray movies or just 3D games?

[*]3D stereoscopic games are now supported. At the time of the system software release, there are no 3D stereoscopic games available for the PlayStation 3 system. The release of 3D stereoscopic games will be announced at a later date. If the TV in use supports 3D stereoscopic display, the screen from which you can set the TV size will be displayed when adjusting the video output settings. Follow the on-screen instructions to adjust the settings.
[*]Personally i would use a dedicated blu ray player for films. If you get your film stuck in them & you return the ps3 for repair then Sony can take up to 5 weeks to return them. I also found the sound better from my Sony BDP-363 but the quality of the picture was on a par.
