PS3: DVD Upcaling

Hi,

How does the DVD upscaling (picture quality) of the PS3 compare to the Marantz DV4001 or Denon DVD-1740/1940?

Hi.
I can't tell you how these three machinies compare but i can say the ps3 is a very competent upscaler, which outclassed my expectations.

My DENON DVD 1940 is far superior to that of my PS3 when it comes to Upscaling DVD's...however the PS3 is competent and more than adequate too in this respect

IMO the PS3 runs my denon 2930 pretty close! the denons better but there is very little in it.

Thanks all. I have a PS3 and is looking at a dedicated DVD player / upscaler. I have a demo of the Marantz dv4001 setup on Thursday with my local AV shop.

Its actually better then my pioneer 868 (a grand to buy new!)

I compared the PS3 picture to Marantz DV4001. The PS3 definitely better in the picture side of things.

Being a bit bored last night i spent about two hours doing back to back comparisons between my 2930 and my ps3's dvd playback quality. Im really quite peveed the ps3 was better, less colour banding less micro blocking more detail. Why did i pay £500 for the 2930?????? ******!!!
