ps3 Advice needed - beginners question on home cinema setup

my av amp only as Optical input the amp is connected to the tv with a Optical lead and the ps3 is connected with HDMI lead would it be better to connected the ps3 to the av with the Optical lead

Yes, connect direct to amp via optical.

Hi,

I'm not sure I fully understand, but I assume the amplifier is connected to a speaker system. Is the sound from the PS3 only coming from the TV? Or do you mean that the sound goes from the PS3 via HDMI into the TV, which then passes it back to the amp?

Hmmm, I don't if it would make much difference, but personally I would connect it direct to the amp - at least you'd be cutting out the middle man!
