Hey

There is only one slot in my Pioneer VSX819 to say BD/ HDMI.

Can I plug in the Sony to the amp via another HDMI say the DVD connection?

Thanks

Yeah.. Sure. These physically printed names on the AVR and remote are only an indication and in most of the modern AVRs you can even rename the source to your desired one (like BD to PS3 and DVD to Sony 370) so that it is easier to see / relate to on the AVR display.

Thanks for that guys.

Also I am about to buy one, and does anyone have any issues about streaming mkv files, like movie files ect,

With the PS3 you need to convert first if not they will stutter, whats this like ?

I haven't got a PS3, but are you running a media server on your PC such as Twonkymedia or TVersity? I can't remember which one works better with the PS3, but if accessing the file directly isn't working, maybe it would through one of these?

I got a PS3 and a 370, but I want to stream on the 370 as it says it supports MKV and the PS3 doesnt, which is silly.

I set up a sharing folder on my media drive but the 370 is not showing any files.

Twonky media costs money, surley there is a way of streaming on this blu-ray player as it says it does, but I cant figure out how to play the movies off my L Drive pc

Twonky media costs less than £15. It works really well. Believe me I hate paying for software, but it's well worth the money. Hardly the kings ransom..

Some guy on another forum said WMP12 so I put all my files on there.

EG: Lord of war blu-ray back up, in wild media ($40.00) it plays great, stunning HD with Dolby no problem.

WMP12 it streams but very choppy and PCM audio and it looks like a VHS copy and I have a 20mb connection.

I dont think WMP12 is any good for this.

Is twonky a lifetime at 15.00 or have you got to renew after a year?

Also cant see a free trial to make sure it will play all my stuff.

Thanks

Hi there, sorry, have been away for the weekend. I don't actually have the 370 myself but I've read elsewhere that although the 370 plays MKV files e.g. from a CD or a USB drive, it won't actually stream them (not sure what the manual actually states on this). The recommendation was to convert the MKV files to DivX which will apparently stream okay.

This software apparently provides the best method to convert them - I've read it's worth the money over the free converters.

Well the end result was......

WMP will stream the MKV files but it can be a bit choppy and quality is that of VHS so thats a no go.

Wild media will stream with ease but....... Its $40.00 = £30.00 and this will stream Dolby and DTS with ease, but its the cost, and I think that is a one year membership.

Will be trying the other 15 day trails like twonky and Mezzomo ect.. to see which ones best and cheapest.

So end result, yes it can be done, but you probably have to pay for the streamer software

I have a PS3 already so no point converting, as I can convert using mkv2vob, was just hoping it would be easyer

Thanks Prof

You need a transcoding media server on ur pc such as Tversity or PS3 media Server (both of which are free) for formats the ps3/370 do not natively support.

PS3 media server is for the PS3 and wont support the sony 370, and tversity does not support the sony 370 either

Both Tversity & PS3 Media Server can be configured to support any device.

- For PS3 media server just edit a render config file (PS3 Media Server
enders) for ur BDP-S370. Use one of the Bravia ones as ur template.

- For Tversity, add a device profile to the end of profiles.xml for your BDP-S370 and then restart tversity.

(C:Users #username# AppdataLocalTversityMedia Serverprofiles.xml) Replace #username# with ur windows user.

If u use an existing profile as a template its easy to do.

Then files not normally supported can be transcoded when u play them.
