Problems with Sony KDL-52W5800U

I bought this Sony TV in June this year and so far I've been pleased with its performance. However, when I tried to turn it on to see the news this morning, the green light came on but the TV didnt - the screen remained completely black and blank. I've been through all of the troubleshooting tips in the manual and logged a call with Sony's service centre, but I wondered if anyone else had had similar problems with this, or another Sony TV in the same range (W5800)?

Just to let you know, I had the Sony service engineer around last Thursday and he fixed the TV with a firmware patch. Interestingly, he knew exactly what the problem was before testing the TV and told me that this is a common problem with W and V series TVs - I hope none of you suffer the same problem!!
