I listen to my CD's through my HD-DVD player or Blu Ray player. The problem is that I have to put a CD in and wait about ten minutes before the unit realises that there's a signal. This problem only arises when I don't have the TV on and I'm connected via HDMI. Does anyone know a way of remedying this?... I don't doubt that I could probably connect via RCA's but the HDMI sounds so good I would rather wait ten minutes for it to start.[:)]

Yep, any time that the amp is connected to anything via HDMI. If the TV is off there's no sound. I've tried starting the players up while its on the relevant av input and vice versa, no luck. I've tried skipping around tracks to get it to click on, I've tried fast forwarding, stopping and starting all sorts.

Not sure if its any help but had some problems with the HDMI connection between my 606, PS3 and TV. I think it probably ruined 2 PS3's. I seem to have fixed the problem by switching off some of the HDMI settings on the receiver.

Not sure where on the menu it is (possibly under HDMI) but it will have lip synch, x.y.colour etc, anyway, switch them all to off and set the resolution to 'Pass through'.

Big Chris:

And it's only with CDs? BDs, DVDs & HD-DVDs all behave correctly?

I don't really know, I've never tried to watch a HD-DVD or Blu-ray without the TV on

,but yeah everythings fine when the TV is on, it's just when it's off that it takes forever for the receiver to figure out that there's a signal, very strange. I would just accept it if it wouldn't play at all with the TV off but it does play after a long while, which is usually by around track two or three. It's more strnage to me because it's not a set amount of time later it's seems random.

Mine's always set to Pass Through but thanks for the suggestion.

Big Chris:That is weird. The TV being on shouldn't affect it, should it?

I don't think it's that weird.

If the OP has HDMI control on, then switching off the TV could turnoff the amp. Check TV and amp for these settings
