Hi there,

Just wondering if anybody else with this telly has come across this problem or if its just mine that could be faulty. Whenever i have something playing via a scart plug, I can always here the terrerstrial channel that I was last watching. Its only feint but during quiet bits in DVD's etc it is really annoying so I just have to unplug the aerial. Anybody know the cause or possible solutino to this or is comething broken?

Thanks

I am assuming you mean if you let the TV autoselect the source? (i.e. turn the DVD on and the telly sort of jumps to DVD playback mode without you doing anything.)

Also assuming you have the SCART lead in question plugged into the AV2 socket.

As a first test try using the TV menu to specifically access the source you are using and see if the problem persists.

Also is it a DVD recorder? if yes check it's the TV channel you can hear not the channel the DVD recorder is tuned to.

Still does it even if the TV doesn't autoselect the source. Also does it when using Sky via scart and is the same whether its plugged into AV1 or AV2. When HDMI is used it doesn't happen and its definately the channel the tv is tuned to as i have tested by changing the channel and repeating. The only aerial lead is plugged straight into the back of the telly without going into anythiong else. Its liveable with, but just really annoying that i have to take the lead out! has anybody else come across this?

thanks

Not touching anything and they are as close as i would assume to be normal! I'm thinking it must be a problem inside because of the fact that it plays the audio of the tuned in channel, so outside interference would just distort the picture. Is that right?!?! Has anybody else who has this tv ever noticed this? it is quite quiet but it is noticeable and just annoying! Do you think its worth speaking to Panasonic? I do have the John Lewis guarantee as well.....

thanks

So if I have understood if you use the SCART sockets you get the problem - if you use the HDMI sockets you don't. I don't think the aerial has anything to do with it TBH - if you pull it out you jusr rob the TV of anything to use as a source for the unwanted sound. Would be the same if you tuned to an unused channel.

Have you tried changing the Scart leads? Scart is Bi directional as I am sure you know so the TV will be outputting to the Scart lead. if the lead is dodgy perhaps its sending audio back into the TV somehow?

Could be cheap shielding on the scart cable, causing the interference?

I've had this before with my old Panasonic Quintrix CRT. I found the fault to be with the tuner on the VCR so changed to an unused channel on the VCR and the interference sound disappeared. I do think it could come down to poorly insulated cables.

Hi Andy

I have a problem with the same set. Have had an engineer out today & he has told me that the control board that houses the AV, Hdmi etc needs replacing. If yours is still under warranty get on to PANASONIC UK for your nearest approved repairer to have a look. Be aware that you will be charged if the fault is not with the tv. Had mine 8 days & have to wait another week for the part before I can watch the footy. It's rubbish on my lcd. Good luck.

i had this problem on an old crt set i had, and it was down to a loose fitting scart lead , it didn't seat into the soket properly, but if u put a bit of pressure on the lead the problem disappeared,so bought a better quality lead which solved the problem
