Proac Response D two

It really depends what you partner them with. If they're paired with say a Cyrus 6 or 8 amp, they're likely to sound a little bright and muddled at higher volumes purely because the amplifier isn't particularly powerful. Similarly so if they're parnered with budget amplification, which would be the case with many qality speakers anyway. I've heard one or two of the entrey level ones to be a little edgy, but they are exactly that - entry level.

We've used ProAc with Naim, ATC, Arcam, Quad, Rega, Audiolab, Primare, Roksan, and Cyrus (new 6 and 8 amps and pre/powers) and never really found them bright. Primare and Audiolab with them wasn't my cup of tea, but the other work fine. I've heard them sound bright with certain CD's, but that's because of the way the albums had been mastered to CD.

Generally, ProAc tends to have a fairly sweet sound, erring slightly on the warmer side of things, and tend to be very listenable with many styles of music.

The D2 is pretty much a standmount version of the D15 floorstander, which was a fantastic speaker.

Hello David. Very informatived as usual 🙂

I`m ordering a pair of proac response d two and studio centre this week as I found a vey good deal here where I live. For now they`re going to be driven by a rotel rmb1075 power amp, and a rotel rsp1069 preamp processor (which I find very good for HT purposes and medicore when it comes to 2 channel listening on the B&W 602). I also find my current system (rotel+b&w ) bright someimes, maybe the sony dvd player is the culprit.

In the future I will upgrade to a dedicated preamp+power amp or a high quality integrated with ht bypass ,for sharing the proacs between the two systems when listening to 2 channel if i`m not happy with the new proacs with my current rotel system. Then... I will find a matching dedicated Cd player too in the future.... but i need to do some serious auditioning before commiting to that.

Thanks

Hello,

From your experience do you consider the proac response d two as bright sounding?

Thanks

Yes, it is bright sounding, but in a good way. It could be because Proac speakers are voiced with tubes, but it's definitely attention-grabbing sound.

Be sure to use really sturdy stands with the D2's. It's a must.

When done right, the D2's were one of the best-imaging and exciting speakers I've ever heard. You lucky dawg...

My pleasure.

Let the speakers run in - give them a good 50-100 hours to be certain, then see how you get on with them with the Rotel amplification. You may be completely happy, you may need to tweak with some cables, who knows. Long term, a dedicated 2 channel amp and CD player will get the best from them.

David : The speakers will be here in 3 weeks. Will report back my findings heehe. In the future I will for sure upgrade to a dedicated 2 channel system but for that I need to do some auditioning, which unfortunanely is unavailable in my country. will need to fly to the U.
K. for that .. and will buy the components from there.
