Hi

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this one. Are movies that was produced before the 'HD era', which are now available on Blu-ray (e.g. BladeRunner), remastered to HD Video and are the results in the video comparable with movies shot in HD today?

Ciao

Often they're got the potential to be better - good old 35mm movie film is actually higher-definition than digital HD formats, able to show more detail and with a wider dynamic range. How else would it be able to fill huge cinema screens?

As an example, I had the great pleasure last night of watching Dr No and From Russia With Love on Blu-ray (the joys of press pre-release discs

) - they look awesome.

The caveat is, these Bond films have been fully restored for HD - look for signs on the Blu-ray packaging that films have been re-mastered from the original film/early print.

As per my other post, ZULU is coming out (should be terrific!).

Amazon.fr has QUO VADIS available. No UK release noted yet, as far as I can see. 50's Technicolor should look amazing.
