Kit - Amp: Sony STR-820DG. Sub Woofer: Jamo A102HCS5
The problem - Following a power cut, my sub woofer isn't working as effectively as it should be. It doesn't seem to be adding bass to anything I watch.
Additional Info - The sub is defintely working as when doing the 'auto calibration' on the amp, each channel pumps out a test frequency, including the sub (which you can definitely hear) and then the amp says that everything is ok.
Yet, when watching my V+ or PS3 through the amp, you can hardly hear the sub - it does work, only at a fraction of what it used to do. I'm defintely not going mad - as I have tested it with the 'THX Lucas film optimizer audio test' on the Star Wars III disc and you can hear all channels clearly, except for the sub which is really quiet, even when the sub is on full level.
Another thing that maybe useful in diagnosing the problem is the fact that when the switch on the amp is set to 'auto', the sub no longer automatically comes on when the amp is switched on like it used to. Also, when the sub is on and the amp is providing it a signal, with the sub switch set to 'auto', the sub will switch off after a period of time - even though the amp is still on and playing.
It seems as though the amp is not providing a strong signal to the sub when doing anything other than the 'auto calibration'.
Help Needed - Can anyone please add any suggestions to what is happening here? Is it a fault with the amp or the sub? Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? Can anyone suggest what I shoud do?
Any help would be greatly received. Thanks.
