Plinius Hiato - Hum when phono selected

As above, I have this amplifier and it came with the phono option although I do not use it. When phono is selected there is a loud hum through the speakers. I turned the phono gain (dip switches) to minimum and this reduced the hum but it is still there. Any ideas?

If you have nothing connected it will hum. Perfectly normal.

You might find shorting plugs helpful, but if it were me I'd just avoid that input. Because it is for phono cartridges it is much higher gain than the other inputs, and it is equalised to emphasise bass (there isn't much on records), hence the hum becomes prominent.

That seems to make sense. May hook up a TT in the future so hope the hum goes then!
