Just rang a retailer off the web to see if they were going to get the Toshiba 40xf355d back in stock as the website said they were sold out and they said they were getting no more because it was now discontinued and has been replaced by the toshiba 42XV505 model. My viewing distance when I checked is only 3m or 4m depending on where I sit and I am concerned that a 42" will be too big. He also said the 40xf355d modelonly had a 50Hz processor and the 42" has a 100Hz will I really see the difference as I must admit I do like the 40 " model. He also said the 42" also has the Onyko speakers like the 40" but it never mentions this in the spec of the 42". Is the 40" still a good set and will I be diappointed if I do buy it? The contrast is also better on the 42" as its only 10000:1 on the 40" will i also notice this difference? Please help!!!!

My understanding is that the XV series replaces the X3030/3035 series not the XF. From what i can see the upcoming ZF will be a replacement for the XF, at least in terms of specs etc. I have also read mixed reviews of the XF model.

The new XV series look great on paper but i have not seen one working yet, however i just got the base model 32AV504 for my girlfriend and i can confirm that so far it's a cracking TV (even more so when i only paid £380 for it!), so it's looking good for the new 2008 Toshibas.

If you want top end i would say wait for the ZF. The XV pretty much has it all apart from 100hz however even on the base model AV series motion is handled very well.

Hope this helps.
