Hi.

Never posted before and am only just getting into hd technology!!

I have about £1500 to spend on a tv and home cinema system but every website seems to recommend different models. I want a 40" tv with three hdmi sockets and it has to be full hd (going to get sky hd in new year)

i found this sony one (kdl40v3000) is it any good? Any better ones?

Is it best ot get the same model of home cinema as the tv or if i mix and match will it get same results. and sorry to be fussy but i dont like the speakers to be the tall ones (my living room wouldnt take them, look stupid)

Now if anyone can answer this i'll be impressed lol

Cheers for your time

Graeme

HI Graeme,

Mixing and matching products often yields better results - in that way you can buy the best on offer in the whole market, rather than just the best one manufacturer can produce.

However, in your case - as you have such specific requirements - i'm going to suggest a one-make solution. It may mean slightly more money, but it'll be worth it:

Sony KDL-40W3000 (a step up from the V model) - can be had for @£1200

Sony DAV-IS10 - Award-winning home cinema system with tiny speakers, Plenty about it on these forums if you do a search. Can be had for @£430.

If you want a lovely looking and performing solution go for the W3000 and the RHT-G800 stand, they look absolutely awesome together.

Go onto the Sony site to compare differences between V & W or perform a search on here as i'm sure i pasted a link in about 2 weeks ago..
