All I have is an I-pod touch and a now broken Bose Sound dock. I have up to £800 (possibly £1k if pushed) and I want:

- to play music in my living room and kitchen. Ideally bedroom too. Wireless?

- Would I connect my i pod to something? Or use a different system to store and play music? (I have a PC with XP)

- Can I get a system that would do everything - I don't even have speakers/amp

Please help! I don't know where to start!

My default would be to just buy 2 more i pod docks but I want to do better than this as I am starting from scratch.

Thanks in advance for helping.

Consider a Bose Lifestyle system, i know you can store music on them and that they have a multi room wireless system on the them. I only know this as a member of my family has it and its very effective! As to price im not sure probably round about your budget but not entirely sure! Have a look on the net. Hope this may help you im not a huge expert, advice is just from experience. Good luck.

Thanks for your thoughts. Sonos looks good - what about Squeezebox Boom?

Do you want to maintain the same quality in all rooms? I'd be tempted to put your music on your PCs and stream it to various different clients, one of which could be the £150 Pure Evoke Flow, if sound quality was not so crucial in other areas (like bedroom or kitchen), whilst setting up a proper stereo streaming from a Squeezebox in your living room.

This sounds good - I don't need the same quality in all rooms. So I could get the Pure Evoke Flow for the kitchen/bedroom and Squeezebox in the living room? And would I need to get speakers for the Squeezebox?

Thanks - I will look into this. I kind of assumed it all had to be the same system or else not be wireless.

On the subject of quality. Are you wanting a system only for mp3 and some other lossy compressed formats or do you want to have CD quality available to you?

I guess that real quality sound like DVD- Audio and SACD are not even on your horizon?ÿ

ÿIf you are limited to lossy then it is so much easier and cheaper.ÿ
