i have tried to connect my playstation 3 to my surrond sound amp and i am not getin sound from it i have got a HDMI cable from PS3 to my TV and then i have a optical cable going from my PS3 to my AMP no sound? the cable is a 1.4a what ever that means. I am triing to use my PS3 as my blu-ray player as i my getin sound distortion with my sony-s370 i just useing the PS3 to see if it is my sony-s370 that is the problem?

hello again andrew it is the harman-kardon signature series surrond sound systeam i am just triing to pin piont where my problem is comeing from if it is my sony-s370 or my surrond sound systeam that is why i am triing to connect my PS3 to my systeam.

It could be in the PS3 settings.

Go into settings / sound settings / audio output. It may not be set to output sound via the digital optical link.

Well, could be that the HK doesn't have the facility to override the HDMI sound in favour of an optical input, but as I say, not having used it...
