Playing files from hard drive through amplifier

hi,

Could you suggest the best (say within $100 or so) way to connect an external hard drive with audio and video files to an amplifier via RCA jacks? I would like to avoid having computer to do so; also would like to do a wired connection to avoid losses via wirelss connection.

I assume you already have a TV/PVR/BluRay if you want to play video files? most of the newer ones allow you to connect an hdd and play the files it contains; all you would have to do is connect that to your amp via the analogue audio out. That way you don't have to buy anything. Of course you might only have an old TV with no USB port in which case you can't do that.
