Hi there,
I've recently upgraded my home cinema setup (see bio), but wonder if I'm not being fair to my CD collection.
Being no expert, I thought blu-ray with HDMI into amp = excellent sound. Then I saw a WHF 'how to video' that said it's better to connect your CD feed into your amp using phono! What ??!? I think the intention is it allows you to configure a music input as well as a movie input on the amp. I do recognise the 'cinema amp is no music amp' advice.
It then got me thinking - I have an older CD player languishing in my loft. It's been there since my first DVD player arrived, thinking they all do the same job right? It's nothing great, a 10 year old Sherwood CD player, which at the time WHF rated quite highly. So is it worth clambering up there and dusting it off, or just leave things as they are?
cheers
