Plasmas can still get screen burn if you use them incorrectly (just as LCDs can as well). If you're not intending to use your TV to display a static image for more than a few days, you should be okay

(PS - I have been using a plasma for gaming for 3 years now, have even fallen asleep in front of it and woken up several hours later. I have had image retention, but this is soon cleared just by watching normal TV for a few minutes, no damage done).

I always advise people, don't worry about the technology (plasma, LCD, OLED etc.), go look at some TVs, decide on the one which looks best for you, making sure you demo them with your own sources (i.e. so if Freeview is important, check out the internal tuner, if Blu-Ray is important, ask for a demonstration, if gaming is important, hell take your games console along and plug it in for the demo!). It doesn't matter what technology drives it, the one you think has the best picture is the one for you.

Very good advice from the prof.Let your eyes choose, remember its your TV so go with what you can see and are happy with.
