Hi all,

Just wondering what is your opinion about the break-in in plasma technology....

If you want mine - i still think the first hours will be crucial. - Do it !

Thank you for you participation

Haven't done any run-in on either of the plasmas I've owned and both are very healthy (the older Panny now coming up for its 4th birthday - they grow up so fast...)

Still, I wouldn't argue with anyone who did run-in for the first hundred hours to be safe since I wouldn't want to be responsible for any kit other than my own!

yes they grow 🙂

Thanks for your reply .. in fact recent plasma are said not to need this break in .... and some brands are more susceptible to image retention then others .. and panasonic (one of the largests) seems to handle and has a good reputation about image retention issues ..altough ive just seen a early review about top of the line and it is very little , only slighly but it is present ..

But even if you dont do the break in , i advice as it is writen on the manual to have carefull about the contents your are viewing expecially in the first hours of usage ..

I think oppionion is divided as to if a "break in" period is needed with modern plasma screens, personally IMHO if you calibrate your screen corectly there is no need to run your TV at very low contrast/brightnees levels. All you need to do is re=calibrate your Plazafter about 200hrs as it may need tweeking.

I have had a total of 4 diferant plasmas ranging from a early Panasonic and Fujitsu screens(back before the days of built in tuners!) that had zero screenburn protection, and 2 Samsung screens none of which have developed and problems.

just avoid the eye popping dynamic setting for the first 2 hundred hours and you should be fine ..

I agree with all previous posters.

No need to run in. Use with care, no dynamic settings or channel logos for too long periods, during the first 200 hours, and just enjoy your TV
