Hi,

I have a new system which as far as I can tell I have set up correctly but am having issues with the sound.

I have a Sony 40hx803 3D TV, a Sony S570 3D Blu Ray player, and a Pioneer vsx-520 amp (which came with pioneer speakers included).

I have set up the amp and speakers as in the manual, and connected the Blu Ray player to the bd HDMI input of the amp using a Chord SuperShield (1.4 with ethernet and audio return). I have then connected the TV to the HDMI out on the amp (again using the supershield).

Picture is great, from TV and Blu Ray. Sound is great through Blu Ray, but sound through TV is non-existent, unless I hook the TV up to the amp using standard red/white audio cables.

As far as I understand it, the system should be capable of playing the tv sound (including 5.1 surround - if available on the tv show) through my amp using just the one HDMI cable (the tv is certainly capable) and therefore through the speaker package.

I have tried everything that I can think of, gone through all of the pages of the manuals, looked through all of the settings and still no luck. The most useful info I have found doesn't even relate to my amp, there is an explanation in the Sony STR-DH810 manual showing the hdmi connection between the HMDI 1 (ARC) output on the tv and the amp HDMI out and have set mine up this way by still nothing.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Well the guys in John Lewis convinced me that it did, but I haven't found much mention of it on Pioneer's website. It is however listed on

EDITED BY MODS - House Rules

as having audio return (arc).

Anyone know for certain or found experienced same issue?

Thanks

Yes, FrankHarveyHifi is correct, I use the vsx1020 and can only link the tv sound via the analogue out or optical digital out from the tv back to the vsx. There should be a diagramn in the Pioneer Manual on page 22 showing this.Hope this helps.
