There were short-lived Kuro LCDs: they were launched at the 2008 CEATEC show in Japan, and used Sharp panels. In return, Pioneer developed sound systems for some upmarket Sharp TVs.

Covered in my show reports at the time.

Hi Andrew!

Did these Pioneer LCD's (KRL Series) actually have any "Kuro" tech in them? I have read that is not possible as "Kuro Technology" is specific only to Plasma & not LCD. On the other hand I have also read that that Pioneer put the same processing as the Kuro Plasmas and developed a special black filter screen amongst other things! Some have stated that they are pretty much rebadged Sharp TV's much like the Kuro Projectors were a rebadge of the JVC ones apparently.

Bazzy!

The Pioneer archive for the LCD KRL series clearly states "KURO"

Hardly surprising, "Kuro" was Pioneer's name, they could have used it on a toaster if they'd wanted to.

Thank you that is my point exactly.

Actually I think looking at it again it was BB's link with the picture I was thinking of, not Andrew's.
