Hi,

I have narrowed my choice for my new TV between these 2 plasmas.  I already know that the Pioneer has the edge on the Panasonic for picture quality.  However after reading the review in one of the issues, I think the cost difference between the 2 may have also been a deciding factor.  In my case, this is not the issue - I simply want a great big TV regardless of cost (excluding 100"+ TVs or the 70" LED LCDs and not interested in projectors).

So it seems the only thing in this duel in the favour of the Panasonic is size.  Panasonic is 5" bigger diagonally.  While that is only 8% bigger - its 17% bigger in area terms.

My couch will be 4.5-5 meters or around 15-16 feet away from the screen.  So I guess the obvious answer will be:  If you want the best then get the Pioneer - if you want bigger get the Panasonic - duh..........But I guess I am interested in whether if you had to make the choice which one would you go for.  I really cannot make up my mind on this one so I would value any input here.

By the way, if I had to tell you the proportion of my time I would use the TV it would be 70% for watching TV (of which 70% of that would be bad quality standard def analog TV fed through my Onkyo TX-SR905 - the rest being in HD), 20% movies (both blu ray and DVD), and 10% for games (PS3).

I have the pdp lx 6090 the freeview picture qual is amazeing and what really suprised me was the upscaled picture of std def.

Proved to be better than my 905 for upscale of std def. I would think in this case the 6080 would be just as able.

As regards the panasonic i can only go on the same review. With the pioneer i dont think you will be disappointed.
