pioneer or panasonic

hello i have been offered a pioneer lx71 blu-ray player for £499 brand new from local hifi dealer.My question to you all is this shell i take this offer as my worry is it is only profile 1.1 and with pioneer shutting up shop on tv's am i going to be left with dud player.Is profile 2.0 easier for future use or are pioneer still going to release profile2.0 players as they have done in the USA,or save a bit and get panasonic bd35 for only £180 profile2.0

Pioneer will continue with players and receivers, so you've no problems on that front. They are planning Profile 2.0 players, plus upgrades, but the only 2.0 player released so far is the high-end LX91.

The LX71 is a superb Blu-ray player, but its newer little brother - the LX51 - pretty much matches is for less money. Would your dealer make you an offer on the LX51? As you can see here, there are some juicy deals out there....

£349 is still a decent price - and remember, your local dealer will be there to help you with all those future firmware updates....
