Hi All,

I would just like to confirm with you guys if my thinking is right.

While using two of the above settings on my LX-SC82, in Direct - I can hear that my sub is working (it is set at <80Hz). In Pure direct if I am right my sub doesn't work which is great but does it mean that my front speakers receive only frequencies above 80Hz - so I don't have as much bass. Or does CrossOver is disabled in Pure Direct and speakers get whole spectrum. Not sure how deep my speakers should go and I don't know if its because they don't get low frequencies or that is how it should sound. I presume after listening to something with a sub everything without it won't sound deep. Not that I have anything against it, it sound OK. I just want to know if I get all sound I should or is it cutting something out.

Thanks

If I remember correctly the Pure Direct is exactly as it sounds. It provides a direct signal from source to speakers without any additional processing (although amplifying it of course!) so they should be receiving the full range.

I've got the same with my yamaha amp. In straight mode it sends bass to my sub, But in pure direct mode i only get bass to my main speakers, the internal bass management is switched off in this mode, i connected high level and low level inputs to my sub which rel says you can do and i now have bass in all modes, which sounds great! not sure if you're sub supports this, if not just listen in your direct mode if your happy with it

TBO I don't know if pure direct changes the crossover or not, but I prefer Direct only. it sounds better to me, so I suspect I'm not getting the full range of bass in PD.

john1000000boy:Piobob what do you have the crossover set at on your lx 82 and rx speakers? my sub is set at 80 on the ma sub?? Is there a setting in the amp too??

If your sub is set-up with the 'Low Pass Filter' switch set to 'In', then it will limit the frequency range to what ever you have set on your sub cross over dial. This is really designed for an amp that doesn't have a dedicated LFE output.

If you have an amp cabable of setting the cross over point, via a dedicated LFE output (as most modern AV amps do), you should flick the 'Low Pass Filter' switch on the sub to 'Out', so allowing the amp to set the cross over - in which case your cross over dial on the sub won't have any effect.

They are set to 80 which I believe is the average setting through MCACC. I then set the speakers to small (from large) I let the amp set the sub ,as GDavis explained.

I have my crossover set to it's highest (180).

low pass = IN position.

Phase control= 0.

Yes sub set to +1.5 DB

Power mode switch = auto this switch needs to be in "Auto" to enable the sub to come on when an input signal is applied, perhaps you have it in the "on" mode. I was gonna put a 12v trigger on when I first got the amp, but was told not to bother as the auto switch would suffice.(still not sure of the benefits of the trigger

I haven't run MCACC again but I will when I've put my dividing doors back.
Have to say I did do a lot of experimenting with the sub, and the
positioning of it, as it stands I'm very happy with it now.
