had my samsung PS50C7000 plasma for 6 days been okay but last couple of days it loses picture and sound for a couple of seconds then comes back on does it a couple of times a day then its fine is this a start of a problem or nothing to worry about

My PS50B650 has always done it. Doesn't really seem to be a problem and never noticed any other issues. Have always just put it down to HDMI "handshake", er, thingy.

cheers had to ask never had a plasma before so wanted to check with other owners of plasma as it never happened on my lcds but all tvs are different i suppoose

You don't find losing the picture and sound on your TV a problem? Handshake or not I'd personally find this to be quite an big issue.

so you think this is an issue bought from comet so they would replace straight away as it is within 28 days do you think i should get it replaced?

It's nothing to do with it being a plasma.

perhaps this is caused by the tv adjusting to a different source resolution input? do you have sky? and does it happen when changing channels by any chance? perhaps from an sd to a hd channel?

hi watched a blueray film last night dident do it only does it on sky i have the sky box set to 1080i not auto it seems to do it in the first hour of the tv being on then its okay

That's exactly the same as my situation. Like I said, never seen it as an issue. I must say though, it didn't always happen. But it started around the same time as i ran the sky through the receiver and did a firmware update on TV. Wasn't enough of an issue to backtrack to see which the root cause was.

Well I wouldnt put up with it. Im suprised anyone would

Do any of you 2 people want to buy a watch from me. It's not working quite right but if you squint with one eye and close the other it looks ok and you should be able to put up with it.

If that was my TV, I would be asking some serious questions. You think it normal just to go black.

Miggs.

It's for half a second about ten seconds after it turns on. Not even remotely an issue as far as i'm concerned.

And there's no trading on the forum (i refuse to press the smiley button, so please insert your own here).

I think the confusion has come from you agreeing that its within the 1st hour. I agree that 10 seconds from the initial startup is nothing.

I had a very similar problem with my Sony 46HX903, Sony s570 and Denon 1909. This started about a week after putting the system together. Only on blu ray. At first thought it was a slow layer change as it happened mid film. But it started to happen two or three times and if I rewound film it didn't happen again in the same place or at all. I put it down to a handshaking problem and was in the market for a new amp anyway. I don't think it's happen since I up graded to a Pioneer LX53. Now all gear is HDMI 1.4 compliant. I gave old Denon to my mate and it seems ok with his gear, he's not reported any problems. If it wasn't a handshaking problem, then the only other thing is the HDMI socket on the back of the Sony s 570 blu ray seems a little slack. I've stabilised this with a bit of blue tac top and bottom.

I wonder if HDMI 1.3 receivers don't like the new generation of HDMI 1.4 blu ray players? Which blu ray player are you using and is it HDMI 1.4?

Fair point, well made. Apologies to the OP if i've just confused the issue.

im using 1.3 hdmi cables are you saying that because its a 3D tv i should be using 1.4 cables and that could be causing the problems with picture my blueray player is a BDP-E300 SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM but the tv has not had the problem as yet watching bluerays only while watching through sky box

I have a Samsung UE55C7000 and it has happened to me a few times, i thought at first it was to do with Sky so i changed from 1080i to auto and it seemd to fix it, until a couple of weeks later it did it while watching a Blu ray. I have read up on this a little as it is pretty common and the only solution i have come up with is this (if you have a receiver/amp)

Plug into HDMI 2 rather than 1 and i have not had this so called "Blink" for about 3 weeks. I did speak to Samsung and they advised to do this aswell so i thought i would try it a least as i find there customer service one of the worst and as i have had it for over 3 months they would just have me taking days off work while engineers come round and then possibly end up taking it away. Not sure i can be bothered with all that.

mark8par,

The OP has solved the issue with the latest firmware update from the Samsung website, the tv was not picking up any available update but there was one available from Samsung and it seems to have worked without the need for trying different HDMI sockets, hunt it out for yourself if you are interested but as your issue was solved perhaps you needn't bother? FYI the OP posted his results with the firmware update in the Image Retention On Samsung PS50C7000 thread.
