Does anyone know if Panasonic have a 21:9 ratio tv in the pipeline? I think it's a great idea and can't believe no one has done it before.

Personally having had a few hours using the Phillips 21:9 TV I think it's just plain stupid and does not offer any benifits over a 16:9 TV. Firstly the TV is uber wide and if watching standard TV on it the actuall screen size is smaller than a 42" TV, and the biggest falure with the TV is that the screen is not a perfect fit for any movie and crops the edges!!

I for one will be sticking with a standard 16:9 TV or a projector with electrically adjustible screen to alter the screen size for diferant aspect ratios.

I think the reason no-one has done it before is that the industry settled on 16:9, so Philips are going out on a limb with this.

Also, with 3D on the horizon I wouldn't expect any of the other manufacturers to bother with 21:9 for a long time, if ever.

I've been playing around with a couple of these at work for the last few months.
Have to say I'm not blown away with the picture quality and the scaling system leaves a lot to be desired . . . . and it's way too expensive at the moment.
