I was very keen on the 42pfl7603. It seemed to get good reviews particularyly from WHIFI.

BUT - I'm looking now at a 46-47 inch screen.

Can I assume that the 47pfl7603 is just as good?

I do worry about the subtle changes in product codes may mean big changes in performance. There is also a habbit of manufacturers putting letters at the end of the code. Both TV's above are sometime quoted with a D on the end - does that mean anything?

AFAIK, the full model number of the UK versions of these products end with D/10, so the 47 for example is actually a 47PFL7603D/10. For understandable reasons, some retailers - and we - sometimes abbreviate the model number.

With some brands, different suffixes indicate models sold in different countries, specials built for sale through a particular retail chain, or even something as simple as the colour of the TV, but Philips TVs all seem to have the D/10 suffix on them.

I am in the same boat as you Ginder.

I was looking at the Sony's that swept the award but with quality issues I think it is worth looking further.

I also don't like the open slit along the bottom which in my case is like to show the wall mount, mains plug and a load of wires!
