Panny bd60 and sony strdh800 help please

I have just set up my new sony amp and im a littler confused. I have just put my copy of wanted on to test the hd audio and i think i might have a problem. I have the panny set to bitstream and it is sending a dts-hd mstr audio to the amp but on the amp instead of getting the dts-hd mstr light come on all i get is the dts light so i am wondering is there a problem somewhere or a setting out or am i being paranoid about a non existant problem. At the moment there is non sub attached to the system its in the post lol. I must say the new amp sounds great

Hi,

Took me ages to cure this on my own Sony STR-DN1000 but its really easy. Have sent this finding to others before, very common.

Scroll down the main menu on the Sony amp where you have 'surround', 'EQ' etc until you get to HDMI, select audio output ( or similar sounding):

You will see that the amp is set to 'TV and Amp', you need to change this to 'Amp'. You're TV cannot accept an HD ausio signal so the amp downscales before output - FIXED.

Sometimes this may revert back so you may need to repeat.

You're very welcome.

Nothing to do with age mind, just Sony hiding things in menus. Anyway it would be boring if all went too easy and us AV nuts had nothing to 'tinker' with.
