panasonic z1

Quite a disappointment (although I know now that buying a Kuro last month was the right decision). First off this set looks beautiful in photos but it's actually not that nice looking at all in real life. Amongst other things those plastic (I think they're plastic) squares in the corners of the surround make it look cheap somehow. The picture was pretty poor too (noisy, average-looking black level) but that could have been down to the source or maybe just the settings (although as it was on Panasonic's own stand there's no excuse for this). The Z1 looked better by some margin.

Thatïs quite disappointing, I had settled on the 42" v10 when it came out - if itïs as poor as you say it is I have no idea what tv to get. I had decided on plasma, and panasonic (pionner 5090 is too big for 8-9ft distance for sd stuff), but I donït like the design on the G10 model, and canït afford the z1.

Any chance you could offer any suggestions. Would you consider lcd, maybe the samsung led-backlit tv. Iïve decided against sony due to clouding/ bleed, and have no clue what tv to buy, although my initial preference was a plasma.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

My suggestion would be to see the V10 for yourself before deciding. I wouldn't necessarily rule out theÿLX5090 though. It looks fine for most SD stuff at 9ft. I haven't seen an LCD set yet (including LED backlit models) that I liked as much as the best plasmas.

I would wait till the reviews come out. The G10 has had some excellent reviews.
