Hi All

My first post is blank because it wouldn't let me put any text in! Anyway, what I wanted to ask was:

I have £700 to spend on a 40-42 inch TV, which of the following should I get?

1) Panasonic TX-L42ET61B - Which only John Lewis seem to have, at £699.99.

2) Panasonic TX-L42ET60 - The only difference between this and (1) above as far as I can see is a different stand - but you may know different. Best web price is £649.00.

3) Philips 42PFL5008T - Best web price is £699.95.

Does anybody own / have expereince of them? Would you advise strongly for or against any of them?

I know there are better (ie more expensive) TVs at this size, but I'm on a budget! I also know I might be able to get a 2012 Panasonic GT50 plasma for the same money which would arguably have a better picture, but in comparison it already looks a little dated and I want to keep the TV for several years.

My viewing consists of, in order of importance:

1. Sport on free to air / Freeview.

2. Films on DVD & Blu-ray.

Also

1. All viewing will be 2D. I'm not interested in 3D.

2. Ultimate smart functionality is a nice bonus rather than an absolute necessity.

Thank you in advance for your considered replies.
