Panasonic TH42PY700F & ONKYO TX-SR875 - upscaling - advice

Hi,

I am planning to buy a Panasonic TH42PY700F & Onkyo TX-SR875; and possibly a new hdmi-capable DVD-player or Sony PS3. I have a question about upscaling; apparently this can be done in the DVD-player, in the AV-receiver and even in the TV. What is the best ?

I was planning to connect the panasonic via hdmi to the Onky using 1080P; and have the Onkyo upscale all incoming video to 1080P ... But if you can have the DVD-player upscale to 1080P via hdmi; the Onkyo will only pass-through (if I read the manual correctly) ...

In the near future I'll hook up a HD digital decoder (+ recorder), either via hdmi or component ...

My bottom-line question basically is; is upscaling in the AV-receiver worth it's money or should I have it done in the TV and/or DVD-players and spend the money on something else ?

The Reon upscaler in the Onkyo is excellent, and I think will be well worth having, especially if you have any standard-definition sources you're planning to run through the system into your TV.
