Having done much research and deliberating on this purchase, I have finally put my money where my mouth is and can only say this tv is truley stunning ,yes even compared to the holy grail that is Pioneer.

It handles everything superbly the images from the Panasonic BD30 blue ray player are brilliant , standard dvds take on new life and even SD broadcasts via the Sky+ are teriffic, the recent episode of doctor who played back after being recorded on the sky+ was fantastic.

I had been waiting for this new Panasonic series to get the What Hi Fi treatment but after seeing the set at the local Panasonic dealers and watching all the possible inputs -SD/DVD/blue ray, i was impressed enough to go it alone.

The tv sound quality is good and is helped by the setup menu for selecting how close the screen is to the wall.

The debate on the pros and cons of the IFC - Intelligent Frame Creation are not an issue. It seems to work fine and can be turned off for SD mode.

I bought it locally for £1550.00 with a five year guarentee, which includes a loan set and they come out to me,

So i think when you know what you want and have prices give the local stores a try, you maybe plesently surprised , i also purchased a Kef 3005SE package and picked up a sixth centre rear speaker for £100.00 bargain! from the same people. The more you can give them alows them to make a better overall deal for you.

Must go we have another film waiting, cant wait to get Blade runner blue ray.

is there a reason you dont wont to support your local by saying where it is or what its name is? I think your local would like the support you are offering since it wont make me go to mine (unless it happens to be the same one)

I got my 42" PZ85 today and have to agree it's an excellent tv. Only tried sd content from sky and the tv's digi tuner so far but im very impressed. Have you tried the BBE VIVA surround mode ? Im using that setting at the moment as it sounds very simillar to having virtual surround off. It's not as good as my proper surround system granted, but still it works pretty well.

I turned off IFC as well,as it's meant for 24fps material anyway. It's better turned off but as it seems to give a better/clearer picture. But it's not a massive difference. Like steve says it can be turned off so it's no problem.

EDIT: I got mine from www.tribaluk.com 0% finance for 12 months and free delivery. Quick delivery as well, was picked up from tribal by the couriers and I got it the next day. I paid £1205 with a 3 year warranty. I needed a 0% deal so couldn't go the JL route for the free warranty.

Just a tip - if you want the whole experience, get the region free US 5 disc edition from Movietyme (rather than the paltry 2 disc UK version). Fantastic!

I got my 42PZ85 from the Panasonic shop in Harlequins too! Joe was very helpful in the face of my constant decision changing on which TV to go for, in the end they came out with two TVs as I wasn't sure a 42" would fit!

Thanks for the info guys i am looking for a new tv. I have a sumsung 32inch HD ready tv i bought a couple of years ago and want a upgrade. I think the 46 inch might be a little to big for my bed room but 42 inch might be just right. I am using it mostly for the new panasonic blu ray player (5 star) and sky HD if it ever comes down in price.
