Panasonic SC-BT200 - whistling sound when playing discs

Hello all, had my SC-BT200 for about 7 months and just noticed that when a disc is played there is a very noticeable whistling sound that is coming from the unit.

The unit had been turned off for a couple of weeks whilst I was away and this whistling sound wasn't there before this period of inactivity. Had anyone else experienced such a problem? Thanks

Just an update. Playing disks got harder and harder until it simply wouldn't play Blu-rays at all. It was under warranty so was sent back to Richer Sounds. Just got a call from them - all fixed but needed a new laser and circuit board - £300 for parts alone! As it's under warranty Richer Sounds can claim this back from Panasonic.

It's just occurred to me that since some much of the inner workings have been changed it might not be multi regional anymore. Anybody know if this will be the case?
