Panasonic Projector has better quality streaming from the internet than from the DVR

Our Panasonic projector has a better picture quality streaming from the internet than from the DVR. Should we get a Roku, instread of the DVR, and if so can we skip throught the commercials? My husband is the tech geek, and I am not, but he was so frustrasted wit the picture quality of The Walking Dead, that we just might have to wait, till we can get it from Netflix. Any help?

Don't know anything about the Roku, but it's worth mentioning that The Walking Dead is filmed in 16mm film, which gives it a very grainy look, no matter if it's viewed from tv, bluray or streaming. It doesn't look as clean and dynamic as most digitally filmed movies/tv series or classic 35mm movies.

In general streaming (from a roku, or appletv or whatever) is better quality then from a DVR/tv broadcast. But bluray is the best quality of all available options.
