Hi,

First off, apologies if this has been asked before -

I have just replaced my old Panasonic 32" LCD 1080p (forget the actual model no!) with a Panasonic P42G10 Plasma.

My surrent set-up is:
Panasonic TV into Onkyo 605 via HDMI
Panasonic BD35 into Onkyo 605 via HDMI

This is exactly the same as I had before only with a new TV.

Now when I switch the BD35 on, 9 times out of 10 all I get on screen is static. Once a Blu-ray starts playing the picture comes thru and I can watch the film with no problems whatsoever, but once i've hit 'stop' the static returns instead of the Blu-ray home screen of the BD35.

I never had this problem with the 32" LCD. I also have a PS3 connected to the Onk via HDMI and then in to the TV and I'm not getting any problems with that.

I have double checked the firmware for the TV and BD35 and they're both up to date.

Can anyone shed any light as to what is going wrong?

Could a future firmware update for the TV fix the problem?

Cheers!

Sounds like your 605 has the same issue as my 606 and also on the 607 that my dealer tested.

See http://whathifi.com/News/Onkyo-investigating-HDMI-compatibility-issue-with-2009-Panasonic-TVs/

As first reported by yours truly.
I have had not further update with regard to a fix for this from Onkyo.

A temporary work round is to turn viera link on for both the TV and the BD35.
Also enable all the TV control options in the hdmi settings on the 605.
This will not eliminate all the static but the hdmi should handshake after a few goes.

The issue would appear to be with something panasonic have changed on the 09 Viera's to do with hdmi handshaking that now impacts the onkyos.

I have updated the details in the thread that I referred to in my previous post.

In short a firmware update to my P42V10 seems to have cured the issue for me.
But as this was done via viera cast and the internet not sure if this helps you?
