I love it when people break embargoes

The players are being officially launched in Europe at IFA (end of month) and won't be in shops until late September. We'll be reviewing them first in the UK - Panasonic DMP-BD35 review will appear mid-September and the DMP-BD55 shortly afterwards.

And yes, we can't believe they've replaced 2008 players so quickly, either....

Should mean some good deals on the BD30 and BD50's if the new ones are replacements rather than additions, though... when did they launch the BD50? (Probably the week after I got my BD-30 :) ).

They are replacing players at the same rate as GPU's for computers. The moment you buy one it's already the old model.

On the other hand, I don't really care. The DB30 is a great player, makes my movies look amazing. I will move up to a profile 2.x or whatever profile they will come up with when they start building good universal machines which will also play my SACD and DVD-A collection.

I can understand releasing a player that decodes 7.1 with 8 analog outputs but it really does beg the question why they released the BD50 at all? It has only been available widely for about 6-8 weeks and already it is being replaced.

Or is this simply a case of Panny wanting to beat everyone with a dedicated Profile 2.0 player by releasing the BD50 in June/July and then wanting to release new product at the same time as all the other main manufacturers in the Autumn?
