PANASONIC 85...MUCH BETTER THAN THE 80????

Hi

I was asking the same question and looked a bit deeper.

After a visit to my Panasonic shop the main issue for me was the lack of TRUE 24FPS support on the PZ80, this like the PZ70 before it uses 3:2 pulldown resulting in slight `judder` with camera panning scenes when viewing BD, you may or may not notice this effect unfortunately i can and because i know it is there it spoils an otherwise great TV (PZ70)

The PZ85 also boasts Intelligent Frame Creation which is supposed to increase smoothness with motion handling, i witnessed it on and off at the shop and have to say i prefered the picture with IFC off, fortunately this can be disabled in the settings.

I would suggest a visit to a Panasonic shop and set up the TVs the same ie reduced contrast and compare with picture enhancement settings on and off.

What suits my eye will differ to yours so all opinions are subjective

Regards

plasma or lcd?

i think the OP was enquiring about lcd, in which case the lzd80 uses 4:4 pulldown for 24fps so no judder!

Visit site
on a usability issue, the pz80 has sockets on the front whereas the 85 has them on the back and side (hidden if I remember correctly)

so If you need three hdmi connected all the time, then one of the cables will always be on show with the PZ80
