Pana TV upscaling

I have 2 Panasonic flat screen TVs and have read in What Hi Fi reviews about them "upscaling". Do they do this automatically or is there a setting for the user - if so where?

All tvs scale automatically

If the source already upscales to 1080 and the tvs 1080 then it obviously wont scale

If the tvs 768 then it would have to DOWNSCALE again

Normal (Standard Definiton) broadcasts will be UPSCALED to whatever resolution the tv is
