Please help I am in the market for purchasing a new plasma tv. The 2 tvs i am interested in are the panasonic TH50PZB1 and the pioneer PDP LX5090.

The pioneer is a lot more than the panasonic but I was wondering if any one can tell me whether the pioneer is worth spending the extra money on ?

The TV will be used to watch sky but mostly to watch blu rays movies through my panasonic blu ray player.

I am prepared to pay the extra money for the pioneer but was wondering what peoples opinions are. On the other hand I could purchase the panasonic and then use the extra money to buy a surround sound system.

Which TV would you recommend me purchasing

If you can afford it get the Pioneer, after looking at both in my local shop i would say you can definetly notice a better picture from the Pioneer with Sky hd and Blu-ray source. Also notice darker blacks and less on screen noise, the Pioneer seems to cope better imo, but has no intergrated speakers or pedestal stand, which would cost around £200 more. Panasonic still performed well and at considerable price difference, you could get a decent surround package, my advice is to audition both to see what you like, only you can decide if its worth the extra.I feel its a heart or head decision on this one

If you can afford it go for the Pioneer I went for Panasonic due to the cost of the Pioneer , Im not disappointed in my choice I love it , but just felt I couldn't justify the extra cost for those oh so deeper BLACKS

I've looked at both (and others) before settling on the Kuro. The pioneer has several advantages but the main ones imo are a sharper picture, better peak brightness (despite of my remarks in another thread), the Panasonic really can look a bit dull with bright scenes and significantly better contrast and black levels. I am sure though that when viewed in isolation the Panasonic is a very good screen and you would be happy with it.
