onkyo receiver... a/v sync...what is this for?

Hi. the onkyo receiver has a/v sync : 0ms up tp 100ms. what is the function of this? Thanks

It allows you to correct any lip sync problems between audio and video on the TV.

Indeed - to allow you to delay the sound a bit to give the picture processing in the TV time to catch up.
