Hi,

I'm new to home cinema and decided to get the Onkyo HTX-22HD a few days ago. It looks to be a good system but there's one thing I could use some help with.

I ran the auto speaker setup and find that the Audyssey EQ sounds great but I find the bass is slightly overpowering. It's ok most of the time but when watching films or gaming and there are explosions/loud noises, the bass is too strong.

I have read the instruction manual, tried lowering the sub volume and looked for settings to reduce bass slightly but I can't find a way to reduce the bass when using the Audyssey EQ.

I have been advised by a friend the only solution is to set up the EQ manually but if I change from Audyssey EQ to Manual EQ would that mean that features such as Audyssey Dynamic EQ for Loudness Correction would be turned off?

Is there a way to reduce bass slightly and still have the Audyssey EQ setting?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Ive had this unit for about a year now & am very happy withit .

Make sure the low volume gain is off as it will make the bass over poweing .

Go into the eq settings manualy & set it up so it sound right to you & also knock back the volume on the base speaker till you can not hear that its working but not so far as th sound is lacking in base ( this will take a little tweeking ) then put the Audyssey back on .

set it up on what you use most & take your time to get it right as rushing throgh all the menuse will get you lost & make it sound worse .

If you have any more questions please ask

Hi Kev, thanks for the reply. I'll spend some time and set it up as you've advised.

I'm not sure where to set the low volume gain, can you advise which menu I use to set this?

Also, when you say to go in and set eq manually and then put Audyssey back on, do you mean to run the Audyssey set up again or just switch across to the Audyssey EQ which is already saved?

Thanks again.
