Onkyo 876 question

Hi,

I've just bought an Onkyo 876 which i've yet to set up. Just had a question about whether this amp auto switches with different sound formats. When i demoed it at the shop i bought it from, i couldn't work out if it was switching to dolby digital etc when going from, say, listening to music to watching a blu-ray as it was quite difficult to tell from the display.

Is auto switching something that all AV amps do? I can tell my old sony does it, as the blue multi-channel light comes on.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but i'm a bit confused

My Onkyo 905 does so I'd be amazed if the 876 doesn't.
