I have the above receiver. If I purchase a 3D player will the unit pass the 3D picture to my projector and the audio to the home cinema system?

Nope.

You'll either need a 3D player with twin HDMI outputs and run one of them straight to you TV, or you'll need a 3D BD player which also has multichannel analogue outputs.

+1 As Big Chris above.

According to its specifications it is not a 3D amp so i would say no.

As this amp is around 4 years since release all i can suggest is try it & see, it is highly unlikely the amp will have it based on its age & the introduction of 3D.

Your best bet for a 3D picture is HDMi straight to the projector & the sound to the amp either by HDMi or analogue, depending on the 3D player.

Thanks for your reply.I have borrowed a Panasonic 310 blu ray player which has twin HDMI outputs.HDMI 1 I have connected to the Panasonic AE5000 projector. This works fine both in 2D/3D.The second HDMI I have connected to the Onkyo 875(as per 310 manual) but there is no sound. The Onkyo keeps flashing HDMI amd then shows NO SIGNAL. What am I doing wrong? My current blu-ray Pioneer LX52 performs fine. This is not a 3D machine. The reason for purchasing the Panasonic was for the twin HDMI facility so that I could use the Onkyo 875.

Hi Charles,

Just a quick response. I have more or less the same set up as you mentioned, I have the 50inch VT30 (I wanted the new AE5000 projector too, but the price was way more than the outgoing model!).

Anyway, I just wanted to say it does all work, but the BD player has a bunch of settings that need to be looked at closely. The 875 is old school so has no issues with audio in from the BD via HDMI and out again. The 2nd HDMI goes straight to the TV/projector. But its the audio and video settings that I found odd and needed some extra time to tweek.

Sorry I can't be of more help right now, it'd take me ages to figure out what I eventauall did, but I recall the BD player was the main issue. Esp the 3D setup.

Best of luck, TnA

PS. Would love to know how the projector is performing in your setup once all is up and running.
