onkyo 606 set up

I have a onkyo 606 set up to my to my ps3 with the hdmi from ps3 to amp then hdmi to my samsaung 26m87bdx with my sky signal being received from another room with a magic eye.my first question is my picture is not as good on sky as it used to be,have i set somthing wrong and my second question is how do i get my surrond sound(which is connected to my onkyo 606)when i am watching standard tv ,not through hdmi.

Assuming the Sky signal is being fed into the Tv directly, and not via the receiver - not sure how the 'magic eye' outputs the signal - there's not reason why the picture should have changed.

As for surround from the TV, it won't happen - the TV isn't receiving any surround sound.

don't some tv shows (usually american) still have pro-logic encoded in the stereo soundtracks these days?

I wish my onkyo 606 would hurry up and arrive

Some programmes may have Pro-Logic, but they're few and far between and as you say they tend to be the US imports.

Best bet, assuming you can get a direct feed from the Sky box and/or the TV has stereo line outputs, is to feed these outputs into the receiver and run it in PLIIx Music mode, which will give a larger, more enveloping sound even with straight stereo broadcasts.

Ah, there seemed to be plenty of them around way back when I watched Sky One shows such as Star Trek: The Next Generation through my old Pace MSS 1000 satellite receiver which had a built-in Pro-Logic amp

Just out of curiosity did you order your Onkyo 606 from Creative-Audio ? i'm still waiting for mine aswell,they told me that onkyo can't keep up with demand ,not sure how true this or some excuse!they told me end of nxt week or week after,i have everything ready to go except receiver.

[/quote]Theres an online manual thats quite easy to take in and explains all connections for all equipment http://www.onkyousa.com/download/own_manuals.cfm?cat=Receiver , Not so sure about your magic iiiiiiii though,i have something similar to that , i have a transmitter pluged in on sky with scart and the receiver in at the other tv .
