Hi im looking for some help regarding warranty length. I bought a onkyo 605 in october 2007 in the uk and wanted to know if it has 1 years or 2 years warranty? My receipt doesnt seem to say anything.

Could anybody please help 🙂

Hiya the normal guarantee on Onkyo products is two years but that depends on whether it was brand new or a refurbished product because if it was a refurb you will only get the standard one year.

Hope that helps.

J.K

p.s make sure you still got the box as if you need to send it back and you don't send it in the original box they may charge upto £50. I know steep but thats life at the moment.

rang up GenServe today and they advised that because I didnt buy from a authorised dealer that it isnt covered? They are going to send me a disc to update the firmware but i dont think that will help as i already have the latest firmware.

Does anybody have any suggestions please?

What is wrong with it?

Ive a 605 and 606 and their both ticking over nicely

Actually I'm taking my 875 down to GenServe on Friday for a firmware upgrade. Current version is, I'm told, 1.09; mine's running 1.01

Andrew, are the firmware upgrades important? Like i said mine are ticking over nicely, but ive never upgraded, tbh i hav'nt a clue what firmware there on. Also, where/how can i upgrade?

Ran into a problem with a Samsung Sky+HD box last week, so want to make sure it's up to date to eliminate that as a cause.

Are the updates important? I think the fact that I haven't bothered with them for two years possibly answers that one.

To find out the whats and wheres, I suggest you contact the retailer where you bought your product, or Onkyo, or GenServe.

To check your firmware version, press and hold the display button on the front, then press the standby button: the display will then show the firmware code. EDIT: At least that's how you do it on the 875...

My 605 has problem with Dolby true hd and dts hd in which I get constant ticking noises from the surround speakers. They are sending me new firm ware disc.
Also other problem i have is one of the front speaker terminals seems to be a bit loose.

The retailer i bought it from (who is not a onkyo dealer) says if i send it to them they will fix, but thats going to cost quite a bit in postage as the receiver is quite weighty! Where as Genserve would arrange a courier to collect :-(
