Ran into a problem with a Samsung Sky+HD box last week, so want to make sure it's up to date to eliminate that as a cause.
Are the updates important? I think the fact that I haven't bothered with them for two years possibly answers that one.
To find out the whats and wheres, I suggest you contact the retailer where you bought your product, or Onkyo, or
GenServe.
To check your firmware version, press and hold the display button on the front, then press the standby button: the display will then show the firmware code.
EDIT: At least that's how you do it on the 875...
