Old CD player recommendations

I hardly use CD's anymore but my old Technics slp222a has just about had it.
Not looking to spend much over £100 on eBay or similar.
Any recommendations ?
Going with a Cambridge cx80 and Burchard Audi speakers

I quite like Marantz or Sony players but whatever you get check you can still get replacement laser units for it.

I'm still using one of those Pioneer upside down jobbies that I can't recall the model number of. Bought it in about 1993, I think.

Rotel players are incredibly reliable. My RCD951 hasn’t missed a beat in 22 years.

That would be a good buy.
I'm happy with my KI version of the CD6000OSE.
Looks and sounds as good as the day I bought it, 18 years ago.

What about the Arcam Alfa 7 cd player ? Seem to have been well reviewed and seem pretty cheap on eBay

Good player but in any player that old transport may fail. I'm not dissing them as myself using 30 year old CD player.

I used to have one of these. Lovely machine but the laser on mine died twice. I now gone back to Marantz, which I picked up fairly cheaply and am very happy with.

Marantz CD48, I bought mine for £40 a few years ago as a back up, it's been my no1 cdp ever since v v good indeed. I've got a CD6001 which is also decent but not on the same level.

Brilliant getting my self a fully working marantz 6000 osd for a bargain price.
In the pictures it's a ki signature one.
Were they much better on this model ?

Good for you!
When new, the OSE was £300, the KI was £500. The extra money bought you a few 'critical' component changes (and some smart copper plating!)
I predict you will be very happy with how your discs sound on it.

How about a Blu-ray player with digital output and use the DAC in the cxa80? Slim, less prone to mechanical failure and plays Blu-ray 🙂
