Apologies if this is a complete newbie question...
I'm looking to get an AV amp (currently pure 2-channel setup) and wondered if I could use the optical output on my Apple Airport Express to connect to an optical in on an AV amp (instead of using the phono connectors), but wanted to know if an AV amp will simply take to optical stream from the Airport and turn it into music (for example if I'm streaming iTunes via the Airport) ?
I just don't know what type of data you can feed into the optical inputs on AV amps for the amp to be able to read it and convert it into sound (I'm assuming using the onboard DACs) ??
Can anyone please help answer this numpty/newbie question ?
